A Moderate Approach To Children's Orthodontics
As your child grows and develops, orthodontic issues could be developing too. An orthodontic assessment at a young age allows for early identification and targeted treatment of emerging problems.
Our conservative approach to orthodontics for children is based primarily on monitoring growth and development. We'll only intervene when strictly necessary, usually in cases where the child has a narrow upper jaw, a crossbite, or when adult teeth are being prevented from growing into position properly.
Early orthodontic evaluation and treatment can help address many of the common oral problems that children face as they grow up – including speech and eating issues, snoring, teeth grinding, thumb sucking, and more.
At Paleczny Orthodontics, we offer jaw growth guidance with palatal expanders, as well as traditional braces for our young patients.
Orthodontic Assessments & Monitoring for Kids
Children should visit the orthodontist for the first time around the age of seven for an initial assessment. This visit gives us an opportunity to determine if orthodontic treatment could be beneficial right away or in the future.
If your child could benefit from immediate orthodontic treatment, we'll commence with a moderate treatment plan to address only the immediate issues. If care is not required right away, we will recommend regular assessments every six to 12 months to monitor your child's oral development as adult teeth emerge.
